January 26th Applebee's Park for the 2008 Polar Bear Plunge
ON-LINE REGISTRATION WILL BE CUT-OFF AT 4:30PM ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 25. ON-LINE DONATION CUT-OFF (FOR CREDIT ON SATURDAY MORNING) WILL BE AT 7:00AM ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 26!!!
The Polar Bear Plunge is the biggest Special Olympics Kentucky fundraisers of the year. The Plunge is a truly is unique event and inclues a fun festive atmosphere with food and great prizes. The Plunge works just like a Walk a Thon, but with one big twist. Participants still solicit donations to support their effort (a BARE minimum of $50 to take part), but instead of walking, Polar Bears take a chilly dip into a pool set up at Applebee's Park.
Last year, five Polar Bear Plunges in Kentucky saw more than 2,100 people hit the water on behalf of Special Olympics athletes in the state. They helped raise nearly $475,000 to support sports training and competition opportunities for children and adults with intellectual disabilities throughout the state.
